Are you part of a church or civic group or a corporate workgroup that is interested in volunteering with Monarch? Are you an individual with an interest in helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental illness? We’d love to talk with you.
Do you have a special talent or skill that you would like to teach to others? Monarch needs you!
Monarch has 14 day programs across 43 counties in North Carolina and we are actively seeking people who can teach ongoing, scheduled classes or workshops to the people we support who have mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
These are some examples of classes of interest to the individuals supported by Monarch that would translate well to workshops: arts and crafts, balloon artistry, baking and food preparation, light exercise, face painting, health and nutrition, music, needlepoint, sewing, story-telling, and yoga.
“Having professionals volunteer their talents and expertise with the people we support is an excellent way to not only share knowledge about a wide variety of interesting, useful topics but to also help them feel like an integral part of their community,” said Christy Shaver, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Long-Term Services and Supports at Monarch. “Our day program participants are enthusiastic learners and appreciative of people who volunteer to spend time with them and share their expertise.”
If you would like to volunteer to teach a class or workshop, email the type of class you would like to lead, the location you would like to volunteer at, and your availability to [email protected].
Program volunteers are needed in the following counties: Bladen, Columbus, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Davie, Forsyth, Hoke, Montgomery, Moore, Pasquotank, Randolph, Robeson, Stanly, and Stokes.
